JEDDAH: Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Naif honored a man who risked his life by pulling a burning car away from petrol pumps and thus averting a catastrophe.
Rashid Al-Nafii was given a financial reward by the crown prince for his dexterity and bravery during the emergency.
The incident occurred when a car caught fire at a petrol station in Al-Zulfi, about 260km form the capital Riyadh.
Employees struggled to deal with the flames before Al-Nafii showed quick judgement by using a rope to tow away the blazing vehicle from the pumps.
The civil defense were then able to put out the fire with no injuries to civilians.
The general director of the civil defense in Riyadh presented the award to Al-Nafii.
Al-Nafii became an instant hero on social media after petrol station footage hit the web, garnering praise for the thoughtfulness he displayed and the courage he showed in the face of imminent danger.
